SYZYGY PLASMONICS SELECTS PEARLAND FOR NEW HEADQUARTERS, R&D AND MANUFACTURING FACILITY
Leadership from the City of Pearland and PEDC are pleased to announce that Syzygy Plasmonics has leased a 44,800 square-foot building in Pearland for its new headquarters, R&D, and manufacturing facility.
Syzygy Plasmonics, a Houston-based startup founded in 2018, is pioneering a technology that produces clean, distributable hydrogen from various feedstocks. Syzygy's platform technology is based on a field of science called photocatalysis, where the company is using light from LEDs that are driven by renewable electricity to perform chemical reactions. This technology can electrify the production of many chemicals that form the foundation of human society, such as hydrogen, liquid fuels, fertilizer, and other chemical raw materials. By creating these commodities using renewable electricity, Syzygy strives to achieve its goal of preventing a gigaton of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere by 2040.
The PEDC and city officials began working with Syzygy in 2021 on its relocation to Pearland. Syzygy will be leasing the former Industrial Polymers building from Welcome Group. The 44,800 square-foot building, located at 3250 S. Sam Houston Parkway, will serve as the company’s headquarters, research and development and manufacturing site for its product. The facility is expected to open later this year and will be home to approximately 60 employees.

PEDC RELEASES 2021 ANNUAL REPORT
Each year, PEDC produces an annual report – this report summarizes the activities the corporation has undertaken over the past year and provides a glimpse into our continued efforts to shape our community’s future and ensure Pearland remains a community of choice in greater Houston.
Over the past year we continued our efforts to recruit new jobs and investment to the community, welcoming Millar’s new headquarters to the community and assisting local employers, such as Lonza, with expansions. Continuing our focus on economic diversification, we worked to position Pearland as a dynamic job center with a base of primary employers that bring new wealth into the community while also acknowledging the importance of our local serving business sectors.
2021 saw continued implementation of the community’s Pearland Prosperity Strategic Plan. PEDC spearheaded the plan’s development and worked with community partners throughout the year on implementation of the plan’s focus areas and related strategic initiatives. The plan’s website – www.pearlandprosperity.com – is where you can view plan documents and progress updates.
The PEDC staff and Board of Directors would like to thank the Pearland community for its support as we work to enhance our economic vitality through the attraction, retention and expansion of primary employers and continue to ensure the creation of new opportunities for Pearland and its residents.

IMPLEMENTATION CONTINUES ON PEARLAND PROSPERITY STRATEGIC PLAN
Since the adoption of the Pearland Prosperity Strategic Plan in early 2020, the plan’s Implementation Committee continues to make progress on each of the plan’s focus areas. The Implementation Committee has met quarterly since the plan’s adoption to guide the plan’s implementation. Highlights from the first two years of implementation include the launch of the Pearland Innovation Hub, continued implementation of the 288 Corridor Master Improvements Plan, the SH 35 Corridor Redevelopment Plan and the Broadway Corridor Development Plan.
