We are excited to announce the completion of the new Lower Kirby trail, a pivotal achievement aligned with the Pearland Prosperity community strategic plan. This plan places a strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of life of Pearland residents through various improvements, with a special focus on parks and trails.

Construction of this 1.25 mile trail commenced earlier this year. The trail winds along the western bank of a detention corridor, originating from Endress+Hauser's facility on Beltway 8 and extending all the way to the pedestrian bridge at Clear Creek. Noteworthy features of the trail include two strategically placed shade structures, concrete bench seating for comfortable rest areas, and thoughtfully designed landscaping in shaded sections.

Funded and constructed by the Lower Kirby Pearland Management District, the trail serves as a valuable asset for the expanding workforce in the Lower Kirby area. It not only provides convenient access to Ivy Park and Clear Creek Trail but also establishes connections to key points of interest. These include the bridge behind Buc-ee's across Clear Creek and the newly developed segment of the Clear Creek Trail, linking seamlessly to the West Pearland Library and the Shadow Creek Sports Complex.

ONGOING PROGRESS - ENHANCING PEARLAND'S OLD TOWNSITE

Picture1-1

Exciting developments are underway in Pearland's Old Townsite area as essential drainage, water, and roadway improvements continue. Spearheaded by a public-private partnership with Sullivan Brothers, the developer behind a residential project situated south of Broadway and east of SH 35, the Pearland Economic Development Corporation (PEDC) is investing $4.3 million in public infrastructure enhancements to enrich the mixed-use character of Old Town.

This 5.9-acre residential development is set to feature a blend of bungalows and row-style homes, presenting a prime opportunity for redevelopment aimed at boosting economic activity in Old Town.  This initiative aligns with one of the key strategic objectives outlined in the Pearland Prosperity Community Strategic Plan. Moreover, the project contributes to the overarching vision of the SH35 Redevelopment Strategy, aspiring to establish a high-quality and consistently designed employment and business environment. This includes compatible land uses and supportive amenities, with a particular focus on the Old Townsite area.

The SH35 Strategy, emphasizing the Old Townsite as a Catalyst opportunity, seeks to create a dynamic mixed-use environment. This encompasses pedestrian and streetscape enhancements, the establishment of a distinctive destination for both residents and visitors, and the fostering of unique commercial venues. Furthermore, the strategy aims to cultivate the growth of dining and shopping offerings within the Old Townsite.
